About Our Therapists

Are you covered by OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan)?

Unfortunately, the government covers only psychiatrists and counselling provided by hospital staff members. I encourage you to reach out to me and discuss any financial restrictions you may have that would impact your ability to access counselling services. I can provide suggestions and recommendations for low-cost services.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no right answer to this question. The number of sessions you feel you need is dependent upon the issues and concerns you bring to our sessions. Ongoing counselling and psychotherapy is very beneficial to a person’s well being, even after working through his or her primary issue. It is important to mention that sometimes therapist and client are not the best fit. I believe that you will get a sense of my personality and style, and determine if this is a good match for you. I am able to make referrals to other therapists if I am not meeting your needs and goals in our sessions.

I have a private insurance plan, will that cover me?

All private insurance companies and plans differ from one to the next. Certain plans only provide coverage for ‘psychologists’; others may cover ‘psychotherapy’. As a Registered Social Worker, I am able to provide psychotherapy. This means that you would be able to claim the cost of my services through your private insurance plan. Please note you must obtain a referral from your family doctor prior to claiming your psychotherapy expense through your insurance provider. If you have any other questions regarding how to claim services through your private insurance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

What do you provide?

I provide individual counselling sessions only. I am not able to provide therapy to couples or families but I can provide consultation and support (eg. education around understanding grieving processes within a family). Sessions are 50 minutes to one hour in length. My hourly rate is $100, but I do encourage you to discuss with me any financial restrictions you may have.
